Eye Surgery

Achieve the vision you deserve

Laser surgery has been performed all around the world for 30 years. There have been several advancements in the technology to repair both short and far sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia from the cornea.

There are three types of Laser Surgery we offer, in each one the eye is operated on in a different way.

LASIK

Lasik

Gain back the sight you once had!

Lasik is the second generation of Laser Treatment. During this surgery a small flap is raised from the corneal tissue. The laser is applied underneath the flap and then this flap is closed.

The main advantage of this surgery is that the patient will be able to see clearly immediately after the surgery. Any pain will be limited to a very short time, although there usually isn’t any at all. The patient can return to their usual day to day activities immediately following the surgery.

With this surgery there is also the possibility of rectifying high dioptre.

RELEX SMILE

ReLEX Smile

The less invasive way to restore your vision

ReLEX Smile is the third generation of Laser Treatment and is the latest refractive surgery technology the world has to offer. This treatment combines the advantages of both of the two previous Laser Surgery methods. This is the most up to date treatment available and is performed in only a handful of surgeries around the world.

The procedure commences with a tiny 2-3mm size incision on the epithelial tissue and the laser is applied through this.

The main advantage of this treatment is that the patient can return to their usual day to day life immediately following the treatment. This can also be applied on high myopia and astigmatism. This treatment protects the cornea’s structure more than any other method. There is just one step to this treatment rather than creating a flap or scraping off the epithelial tissue and it will provide the most natural eye quality after the treatment.

Presbyopia

Presbyopia is a condition which tends to occur to those later in life, where long sightedness appears and reading glasses are required.

There are different options available to those that suffer from the condition including reading glasses and contact lenses. These are suitable to overcome the condition however not always appropriate for everyone e.g if you lead an active lifestyle. In these cases surgery can be an option.

There are three methods of surgery we can offer

Remove your cataracts and regain your sight...

The lens of the eye is replaced with an artificial lens.

Experience freedom from glasses

Monovision

One eye is corrected for near vision and the other eye for distance vision. Following this surgery the bran must learn to switch between both eyes for different distances. It can take some time to adjust to the fusion and some people may now be able to tolerate the difference between the eyes.

Presbyond

One eye is corrected for near vision and the other eye for distance vision however there is a blend zone where Presbyond fine tunes the depth of the field of each eye individually. This helps the brain to fuse the two images together with improved results and quicker response time.

Correct your near vision with simple surgery

An artificial lens of diaphragm is implanted into the cornea, improving the near vision of the non-dominant eye for reading and other near-distance tasks

Cataracts

Cataract vision is a clouding in the eye, making it difficult to drive, read or see clearly. Cataracts tend to develop slowly, however can have a damaging effect on a normal lifestyle.

Cataract Surgery can be completed on patients with short or far sighted corneal curvatures and can restore the natural range of vision.

There are two methods of treatment we can offer

Phacoemulsification

An incision is made in the cornea. Ultrasound technology is then used to displace the hardened natural lens with the help of a liquid.

PHACOEMULSIFICATION

Femtosecond Laser

Rather than using Ultrasound technology this treatment uses a laser. During this treatment the tissue around the natural lens doesn’t become affected by the fragmentation process. No tissue damage occurs, and it is a painless treatment.

The correct lens is decided according to the nature of the eye and the patient’s lifestyle. With the help of an artificial lens Mytopia, Hypermetrophia and astigmatism can also be removed with just the one operation.

Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure which removes excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. It is a cosmetic surgery however; it can also help to improve sight in older patients when sagging eyelids can obscure vision. The operation will produce a subtle and effective result leaving the patient with firmer, lifted and younger looking eyes.
